Bowling Green City Councilman Daniel J. Gordon has announced he is running for re-election as the city’s 1st Ward Representative.
“I will keep fighting to ensure city government works for 1st Ward residents and all citizens of Bowling Green,” Gordon said. “My mission is to secure and capitalize on the progress we’ve made to improve our neighborhoods and quality of life.”
Councilman Gordon spearheaded the creation of Ridge Park, the first public park in 1st Ward history, which celebrated its first anniversary last October.
“My vision is that every member of our Bowling Green family feels safe, healthy, and respected, and that each of us lives in a good home in a vibrant and welcoming neighborhood.”
To that end, Councilman Gordon is excited to help implement the BG Community Action Plan (CAP), which when finalized will provide policy tools to revitalize neighborhoods. “The CAP is the newest component of our process to reverse decades of government neglect of our neighborhoods. We need to ask tough questions, develop real solutions, and do right by our residents.”
He noted the work of improving local quality of life has become more difficult due to state cuts to the Local Government Fund and infringements on home rule. “I believe in local control,” Gordon stated, “And to keep us strong, I’ll do whatever I can as a legislator to defend Bowling Green against any further cuts or attacks on our municipal authority.”
Councilman Gordon has represented the 1st Ward, which includes northeast neighborhoods and Bowling Green State University, since 2012. He is a native resident of Bowling Green and graduated from BGSU, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy, and his Master’s degree in Public Administration, focusing on Public Policy. He manages the office of Inner Peace Homes, Inc., a local nonprofit providing foster care and adoption services for Northwest Ohio.
