Habitat for Humanity of Wood County Ohio invites the community to its volunteer open house on Thursday, Oct. 23, from 1 – 3 p.m., at the Habitat office, 326 Industrial Parkway, Suite 1, Bowling Green.
This casual, drop-in event is a chance to meet the Habitat team, chat with current volunteers, and explore hands-on ways to get involved – whether on a build site or at the Habitat ReStore. Light refreshments will be provided. No registration is required.
“Volunteers are the foundation of everything we do,” said Gina Skaggs, volunteer coordinator for Habitat for Humanity of Wood County. “Whether it’s building a home from the ground up, helping at the ReStore, or joining a committee, every person who gives their time helps strengthen families and neighborhoods right here in our Wood County communities.”
At the open house, attendees can learn about volunteer opportunities such as:
- Core crew members – assist on active build sites with framing, siding, painting, and finishing work
- ReStore cashiers – provide friendly service and help customers find deals on donated home goods
- Donation sorting and merchandising volunteers – help organize and display donated items at the ReStore
- Gala committee members – support Habitat’s annual fundraising event through planning, outreach, and coordination
Habitat for Humanity of Wood County has completed 57 homes for families across the county. The organization currently has one home under construction in Walbridge and will complete 10 critical home repairs in 2025, helping more families stay safe and stable in their homes.
“Volunteering with Habitat isn’t just about houses—it’s about people coming together to build something lasting,” added Skaggs. “Every nail, every smile, every donated hour builds hope.”
