Bowling Green city electric and public works crews have been working since midnight to remove trees from roadways and get power back to customers.
City Communications Director Amanda Gamby said this morning that wind gusts registering up to 48 mph in Bowling Green knocked down 20 trees that had to be cleared from streets, and caused sporadic electric outages throughout the city.
There were no widespread power outages, but more than 100 customers called to report their electric was out. Crews will continue working through the afternoon to fix the outages, Gamby said.
Due to the sporadic nature of the outages, anyone without power, who hasn’t yet reported it, is asked to call the city at 888-807-2583.
The city recorded 2.1 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, saturating the ground and causing flooding on streets and in yards. Gamby said that will likely occur again this weekend, with more heavy rain in the forecast.
