Dr. Ian Leggat, 66, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Friday, August 9, 2019. He was born on October 14, 1952 to the late John and Helen (Murray) Leggat in Coatbridge, Scotland. He married Sarah (Hamill) Leggat on April 10, 1981 in Northern Ireland and they were married for 36 years until she passed away on January 28, 2018.
Ian was educated in his hometown of Hamilton at Hamilton Academy, a prestigious school founded in 1588, before graduating from Glasgow University in 1976. He was proud of his Scottish roots. He became licensed as an OBGYN and practiced in: Scotland; Canada; Fairmont, West Virginia; New Martinsville, West Virginia and Bowling Green, Ohio. Over his career Dr. Leggat delivered thousands of babies. He enjoyed travel with his wife Sarah to: St. Martin; Venice, Italy; and back home to Scotland and Ireland. Ian had a passion for cars, especially his 1997 X type soft top Jaguar convertible. He was an avid reader, photographer and loved to play golf when he could. His faith was very important to him.
Ian is survived by his sons: Andrew Leggat and David Leggat of Fairmont, West Virginia; and a sister Elizabeth Leggat of Hamilton, Scotland.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday August 19, 2019 at 7:00 PM in Dayspring Church 17360 N Dixie Highway, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. A second service for Ian will be held on August 23, 2019 at 6:00 PM in Life United Methodist Church, Technology Drive, Fairmont, West Virginia 26554.
