James “Jim” Coy, 85 formerly of Weston, Ohio and most recently of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on June 16, 1930, in Toledo, Ohio to the late George and Grace (Holland) Coy. He married Nancy (Kopp) Dunn Coy on March 19, 1993 and she preceded him in death on April 7, 2013. Jim is survived by a daughter, Carleen (Alan Meade) Coy, of Weston, Ohio; sons: Cordell (Karen) Coy, of Villa Hills, Kentucky; Curtiss (Kathy) Coy, of Pemberville, Ohio; stepdaughter: Jennifer Dunn, of Bowling Green, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; his first wife: Lois Berndt Coy and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife; Jim was preceded in death by his two sisters Lillian and Georgena.
Jim received his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Husbandry from The Ohio State University and received his Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina. Jim was employed as the Wood County Health Commissioner until he retired. Jim was an avid fisherman and loved spending time fishing with his sons and friends on various lakes in Canada. Jim and Lois enjoyed their time as dance instructors in the Toledo area. Jim and Nancy enjoyed antiquing.
Visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM in the DECK-HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1460 W. Wooster St., PO Box 648 Bowling Green, OH 43402, Tele: 419/352-2171. Funeral Services for Jim will be private, with private Interment in the Weston Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 2500 North Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615-2820.
