James F. King age 91, of Luckey, OH passed away at peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 8, 2025. He was born on May 5, 1933, in Bluefield, West Virginia, and was the beloved son of Freeland H. and Gladys V. (Johnson) King.
James honorably served in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne, where he demonstrated courage and commitment that would carry through the rest of his life. On March 25, 1959, he married the love of his life, Helen Blankenship, in Monroe, Michigan. Together, they created a loving home and raised 14 children. Their 50 years of marriage were a testament to their deep love and partnership, a bond that remained strong until Helen’s passing in 2009.
With a strong work ethic, James moved to Luckey where he built quite a few homes. He started his own business beginning with Troy Building Maintenance & then later Kingsmen Inc. He owned and operated his company while also working for 30 years at Libbey-Owens-Ford (LOF) in Rossford before he retired and then for many years after.
A man of deep faith, James found comfort and strength from his Christian beliefs, expressing gratitude for all things, trusting that everything is in God’s hands and that it happens for a reason.
His family was his greatest joy, and although he may not have always expressed it, he took great pride in their achievements and happiness. His legacy of love, faith in God, hard work, and resilience will forever resonate in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and a strong emphasis on family that will continue to inspire future generations.
Jim is survived by his daughters: Ronda Sbrocchi of Columbus, Rebecca King of Toledo, Cindy (Brad) Wilson of Perrysburg, Brenda King of Sylvania. Sons: Darell Parmer of Oregon, OH, Howard King of Bradner, Boyd (Pikun) King of Bowling Green, Troy (Shannon) King of Luckey, Jay (Andrea) King of IN, “Buddy” (Brittany) King of Luckey at least 38 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Daughters-in-law: Jennica King, Alayna King & Lou Parmer. Sister; Margaret (Robert) Davis of AL, and his Bulldog; Humphrey. In addition to his wife Helen, James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Bernard and Fred, sons: Delbert, Reuben and Glen King, daughter; Joanna King, grandsons: Kobe and Jimmy King.
Family and friends will be received 9-11 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2025 with a funeral Service at 11 a.m., at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home 110 W. Main Street Luckey, OH 43443. Officiating will be, Pr. Eugene Gagnon. James will be laid to rest next to Helen in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey.
