Jane Louise Kohlenberg of Pemberville, OH passed away Monday, February 26, 2024 at Toledo Hospital. She was born Jane L. Schuerman on June 18, 1944 to Franklin and Henrietta (Martin) Schuerman. On July 9, 1966, Jane married Ray A. Kohlenberg Jr. in Pemberville at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Jane and Ray raised three daughters and celebrated over 57 years of marriage.
Following graduation from high school, Jane went on to receive a Bachelor’s in Business Education and her Masters in Education from Bowling Green State University and a Master’s in Library Science from Kent State University. In addition to being a homemaker and teacher she was the Library Director at the Pemberville Library for 40 plus years, A woman of great faith, she was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she served as Financial Secretary which was only one of her many ministries at Bethlehem.
She was very active in the community, including memberships in PIMA (Pemberville Independent Business Merchant’s Association), Four Seasons Garden Club, the Mental Culture Club and the Eagle Way Hall of Fame.
In addition to her husband Ray, left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Laura Kohlenberg of MO, Lisa Kohlenberg of Woodville, and Jill (Grant) Lammi of Lewis Center, OH, grandchildren: Sophia Lammi, and Bennett Lammi, brother, Victor (Eileen) Schuerman of Pemberville, sisters: Paulette Bresler of Bloomdale, Kathleen (Daryl) King of MO, Jolene (James) Roberts of PA, and Luann Snyder of Luckey, sisters-in-law: Phyllis Kohlenberg, Janet Andrews, Faye Schuerman and Donna Schuerman, brothers-in-law: Thomas (Claudia) Ehmke, Jerry (Darlene) Ehmke and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Donald Schuerman, Robert Schuerman, sister, Virginia Shammo, and numerous in-laws.
Family and friends will be received 2-7 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home 4094 State Route 105 Pemberville, OH. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 220 Cedar St., in Pemberville. There will be additional visitation from 10 a.m., until time of services. Burial will follow at Pemberville Union Cemetery on Fish Rd. Officiating will be Pastor Timothy Philabaum. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials take the form of contributions to: Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pemberville Library or a charity of donor’s choice.
