Joseph William Westmeyer Jr. (82) of Bowling Green Ohio passed away peacefully on December 26, 2023 at Kingston Rehabilitation Center of Perrysburg with his loving wife, Judith, of 60 years by his side.
Joe and his twin brother Dick were born in Toledo on February 22, 1941 to Joseph and Rita June Westmeyer. Joe attended St. James Elementary school in South Toledo then graduated from St. Francis DeSales High School in 1959 where he was a proud member of the first four year graduating class. He graduated from Xavier University in 1963 and the University Of Toledo College Of Law in 1966. Joe enthusiastically practiced law for 51 years helping countless people in the Toledo area. He was a dedicated member of the downtown Toledo Kiwanis where he was the Chairman of the Terrific Kids program for many years. He was a long time parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish in Toledo. Joe was a tremendous fan of the University of Michigan Football and Xavier Basketball teams.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Judith (Black) Westmeyer, his three children Julie Ryder (Tom), Jean Scott (John), Joseph III (Beth) and his seven grandchildren Katie, Natalie, and Jack Ryder, John Jr. and Lily Scott, Ally and Joey IV Westmeyer. He is also survived by his three brothers Dick (Patty), William, Edward (Kay) and a large loving Westmeyer family. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and step mother Mary Janet, sister in law Jan as well as his granddaughter Emily Westmeyer.
The family will receive guests at Coyle Funeral Home at 1770 South Reynolds Rd. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 2 pm – 8 pm with a scripture service at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 434 Western Avenue Toledo on Friday December 29, 2023 at 10 am. Burial will be private at Otsego Cemetery.
