It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Krista M. (Scherley) Sturdevant, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, who left us on July 28, 2025, at the age of 41 after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Krista was born on August 17, 1983, and spent her life dedicated to her family and her work in higher education most recently as an Assistant Director and Academic Advisor in the Honors College at Bowling Green State University.
Krista is survived by her loving husband, David Sturdevant, and their two daughters, Julia and Corinne, who were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her parents, Urban and Pat Scherley, her siblings Tony (Rachel), Kevin, and John (Sarah) Scherley, as well as many cherished friends and extended family members who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents: Herman and Kathleen Tiell, and Urban Sr. and Velma Scherley.
A proud graduate of Seneca East High School in 2002, Krista went on to earn her BA in Education, a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Toledo and was in the process of pursuing her doctorate at BGSU. Yet, the role she cherished most was that of a mother. Krista loved every moment spent with her girls, whether it was running them to dance classes, cheering them on at sporting events, or participating in Girl Scouts. Friday Neighbor Nights in Haskins were always enjoyable for Krista because they created lasting memories with friends and family.
In honor of Krista’s memory, contributions can be made to support her daughters’ college fund or to the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center.
Visitation for Krista will be held on Thursday, July 31,2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, Bowling Green. Her funeral service will take place the follow day on Friday, August 1, at 11:00 am with an additional hour of visitation starting at 10:00 am at the funeral home.
