From BOWLING GREEN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and their Foundation are pleased to announce the performances that will be a part of the  Bowling Green  Community Holiday Parade broadcast scheduled for Saturday Nov. 21 beginning at 12:00 pm on WTOL 11.

Mary Hinkelman, Executive Director stated: “There is something about Bowling Green that captures your heart.  This is something that happens all year long, but especially during the holiday season.  Knowing what was accomplished in such a short amount of time to provide this broadcast shows the pride of the people here.  It’s just incredible.  Everyone was so eager work within our tight timeline, be flexible on details and provide talent beyond our expectations.  WTOL spent two days in Bowling Green capturing some spectacular footage of these new performances, interviews and holiday greetings and will be utilizing as much of this footage as they can to reimagine this ½ hour broadcast. Our hope is that this will bring you cheer this holiday.”

The Chamber reached out to performers who have been a part of our parade for years and gave them the opportunity to showcase their performances again this year. These groups include:

  • Julie’s Dance Studio performed to a holiday medley with beautifully costumed dancers.
  • The Beat Dance Company; winner of the “Best Performing Group” in last year’s parade bring their high energy and another great performance.
  • You can’t have a parade without a local baton twirling group and Heidi’s Twirlers will dazzle you with an amazing routine.
  • Sleek Academy is always represented in the parade with a float of their students.  This year they will bring a smile to all with their sweet rendition of Jingle Bell Rock.
  • The Black Swamp Players provided an impromptu skit.
  • The National Tractor Pullers Championships was awarded with the “Best of Show” trophy in 2018 and 2019.  This organization never ceases to amaze us with how they can rally and make great things happen.  They did the same for us this year!
  • The H20 Music Team performed an energetic medley of holiday songs.

The change in this year’s format of the broadcast allowed the Chamber the opportunity to highlight some amazing local musical talent.  An impressive line-up of musicians will provide some great entertainment.  You’ll get to experience vocal and instrumental talents of: Tim Concannon, Mark Mikel, Tim Tegge, Mike Williams and The Grande Royale Ükelelists of the Great Black Swamp. You’ll hear original pieces and cover songs from these artists and if you visit the Chamber website at bgchamber.net/annual you will find bios of these talented artists as well.

This annual event relies on donations and sponsorships to continue.  We encourage you to help in any way you can. Sponsorship forms are available on our website at bgchamber.net or by making your donation to the BG Community Events Fund through the Greater Toledo Community Foundation or reaching out to our office at 419-353-7945.

You will also enjoy interviews from our Presenting Sponsors; City of Bowling Green and BGSU along with holiday greetings from throughout our community. Following all the new content, the 2019 parade will be played in its entirety. The Chamber encourages the community to embrace the holiday season in the best way possible by spending Saturday afternoon with your loved ones enjoying this holiday tradition-Reimagined.
