Lola Miller

Lola Miller, of Bowling Green, OH, passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2024. She was born on June 1, 1930, near Hamler, OH to the late Edward and Henrietta (nee Rettig) Schwiebert. She married Wilbur “Wib” Miller on December 22, 1950, and they recently celebrated 73 years of marriage. Wib preceded her in death earlier this year.

She was a graduate of Hamler High School, and enjoyed drawing, sewing, quilting, crafting and gardening. She worked as a photo colorist for Weisbrod Studio in Bowling Green.

Lola’s Christian faith was always of utmost importance to her and her family. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and most recently a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Bowling Green. Giving to and helping others were top priorities to Lola as evidenced by her strong commitment to ELCA World Hunger, visiting friends in need, and volunteering as a co-leader for an OCD mental health support group.

Lola and her husband Wib enjoyed traveling throughout the country in their travel trailer – camping in many national parks was a highlight. They also traveled to volunteer at many Habitat for Humanity building sites and other disaster recovery sites around the country. Lola was instrumental in helping with food preparation at various Habitat building work sites.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lola is survived by her children Joan Tussing (Doug) of Norwalk, OH, Jeff Miller (Connie Carrino) of Edina, MN, Barb Colon of Benton, KY; grandchildren, Andrew, Anne, Amy-Jo and Amanda; and great grandchildren Lydia, Leah, Anthony, Michael, Easton and Josephine.

She was preceded in death by her brother Leroy Schwiebert, sister Velma Bostelman and son-in-law Jamie Colon.
