Mark W Carpenter

Mark W. Carpenter, 67, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday April 20, 2023 at Bridge Hospice of Bowling Green.

He was born on May 22, 1955 in Bowling Green to George and Irene (Burbaugh) Carpenter. He graduated from Otsego High School in 1973 and married the love of his life, Susan Simon on April 12, 1975 and they just celebrated their 48th Anniversary.

Mark farmed in his youth and then worked for the Wood County Board of Development Disabilities and became a Maintenance Director, then became Maintenance Supervisor at Wood Lane Residential Services from which he retired in 2010 after 30 years of service to both programs.

Mark loved hunting, fishing, and shooting on his range in the backyard where many others came to practice their firearms skills. He could fix anything and would be the first person everyone called for help, repairs, or advice. He would have annual pheasant hunts on the farm and many people brought their children to the hunt to learn the thrill of the hunt. He loved to go squirrel hunting with his grandchildren and truly enjoyed watching them shoot on the range and teaching them everything regarding safe gun ownership.

His favorite evening pastime was reading his family Bible. He would go out to his shop and sit for at least an hour every night and has read it all the way through at least 4 times.

Mark is survived by his wife, Susan, daughter Kristen and son-in-law Pat Lynch, son Kurtis and future daughter-in-law Bridget, grandchildren Avery and Konner Carpenter and future step-grandchildren Grace and Harlen Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and both in-laws and many very good and close friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Memorial contributions may be given in Mark’s honor to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street.
