Mary Alice (Hearson) Turkal, born on August 19, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at the age of 84. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Mary is survived by her husband, John Turkal; her daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Asmus; her sons, Paul (Nancy) Turkal and John Turkal (Whitney Vogt); her sisters, Donna Bartel and Sue (Jim) Brown; and her cherished grandchildren: Cory, Christine, Stephanie, Bailey, Sophia, Lauren, Matthew, and Samantha, along with 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Hearson, and her son, baby John.
Mary graduated from Eastwood High School and attended Davis Business College. She was employed by Lucas County Credit Bureau for Mr. Orrin. Later in life she became as Certified Nursing Assistant and last worked a secretary for the Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids in Michigan.
She was an avid reader and very active in the youth band during her time in Grand Rapids. Her and John traveled frequently and saw 48 of the 50 states. Above all, Mary cherished her family and the moments they shared together.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on April 18, 2026 at 11:am.
