Mary Ann Gebers, 89, of Custar, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, Ohio.
Mary Ann was born April 14, 1935 in Hamler, Ohio to the late Henry and Mary (Mack) Erford. She grew up the youngest of 10 children and graduated in 1953 from Hamler High School. On February 5, 1955 she married James “Jim” Gebers at St. Paul Catholic Church, Hamler. Their marriage spanned nearly 70 years before Jim preceded her in death this past December 21, 2024. They were a beautiful example of married life and surely reunited in eternal life.
Mary Ann was a devoted and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was dedicated to her home and being a constant source of comfort to her family. She was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar and the Altar & Rosary Society, where she served as the President and co-chair of the funeral committee. She also served on the Parish Council, School Board and the Festival Committee.
She is survived by her two sons, Anthony (Christina Sheline) Gebers; Darrell (Pam Adler) Gebers; four grandchildren, Jared (Eve) Gebers; Amanda (Keith) Duquette; Stephanie (Jason) Boston; Alyssa Gebers; three great grandchildren, Blake Boston; Bianca Boston; Jackson Duquette and two sisters, Margaret Zachrich; Eileen Reese and sister-in-law, Mary Erford. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Lenore Gerschutz; Marvelle Clausen; Henry “Mack” Erford; John Erford; Reynold Erford; Jean Hammer and Arthur Erford.
A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar with Fr. Francis Mariadas officiating. A fellowship luncheon will immediately follow the mass. Visitation with the family will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the mass in the church. The family suggests memorials to St. Louis Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
