Mary Dawson and Ian Dawson to host ‘NEXT GENERATION’ art show

From DAWSON DESIGN, INC.

The “NEXT GENERATION Art Show: Recent works of Ian Dawson and Mary Dawson” will be held Dec. 11 -13, for two evenings and the following afternoon. The public is invited to the free show and reception. A Bowling Green Arts Council sponsored event, “NEXT GENERATION” is an exhibit the mother/son duo share.

Featured are Ian Dawson’s signature metal and glass sculptures, original glass pieces, and photographs of his “My Italy” series, which record his inspirations in Venice and Murano, Italy. Dawson has recently returned from Italy, where he apprenticed in a glass studio to hone his skills with the masters and display his work at Venice Glass Week. He will return to the Murano studio from March to May of 2026, where he feels he “is living [his] dream.” In the meantime, he will continue his metal and glass work from his home base.

Sharing the spotlight are Mary Dawson’s framed archival prints of her 2024-25 floral paintings along with her hand-crafted wire metal sculpture and jewelry. Coinciding with this show is a solo exhibit of her work at Toledo’s 20 North Gallery, so her oil paintings are not on display at the BG venue. “But these are much more affordable,” quipped the artist.

Their “NEXT GENERATION” three-day show will offer holiday gift creations from $20 – $100. The event will take place at the Bowling Green Arts Council ArtSpace Gallery, behind Coyote Beads, 178 S. Main St., Bowling Green, on Thursday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 12, from 5 – 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, from noon – 2 p.m. Visitors should use the rear entrance after 6 p.m. Holiday refreshments will be provided.
