Mercer waiting at dog shelter for someone to play ball and go for long walks with him

Meet Mercer, currently the longest resident at the Wood County Dog Shelter.

“He is a sweet guy who loves everybody he meets,” said Wood County Chief Dog Warden Jodi Harding. “If you are looking for an energetic dog to help you get out the door for those summer walks, this guy is for you. He loves to play ball, loves running in the dog park, and loves going for long walks.”

Mercer has done well with the other dogs at the shelter, but would want to meet any canine friends he may be going home with, Harding said. “He can be a little jumpy when he is excited so would do best in a home with older kids.”

He is neutered, heartworm tested, and up to date on his vaccines.

The adoption fee for all shelter dogs is $89, which includes a $14 Wood County dog license, and $75 vet voucher toward spay/neuter and vaccines if needed.

The hours for the shelter are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The shelter is closed on Sundays. The Wood County Dog Shelter is located at 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Road, Bowling Green, phone 419-354-9242.
