Nancy Ann Rudolph, 88 of Perrysburg, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania, Ohio. She was born June 21, 1935 to Max and Margaret (Ulrich) Fulks in Chillicothe, Ohio. Nancy graduated from The Ohio State University where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. A highlight of her university days was her time as a member of the Elite Symphonic Choir, with which she did a concert tour of Europe and competed in the International Choral Contest, Eisteddfod, in Llangollen, Wales. They were unique and highly praised for singing in scrambled position.
Before college, Nancy was a delegate to the YMCA-sponsored “Youth in Government” at Ohio’s capital, and William Gernheuser from Toledo was her mentor. Following graduation, she was the vocal music director in Wellston, Ohio and taught elementary and junior high music at Ottawa Hills. Nancy also taught at Owens Community College in the Early Childhood Department. As a member for over sixty years of the First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, she directed children’s choirs, served on the nursery school board, many committees, and was on the board of elders. Nancy was a den mother and proud supporter of the Boy Scouts Troop 110, where both sons attained Eagle Rank and served on the Wood County Mental Health Board. She was also president of the Perrysburg Schools Mother’s Club.
The Rudolphs traveled extensively, where they cultivated many special friends who called their home “The Embassy.” They often traveled with the BGSU football and hockey teams where they had close personal relationships with the coaching staff, many players, and their families. Even so, Nancy was a huge Buckeyes fan. She was also proud of introducing the concept of “Safety Town” to Perrysburg, which has been copied by many other communities. Gardening and getaways to their Siesta Key condo in Sarasota were very special times and welcome changes of pace for Nancy.
Nancy is survived by her devoted son Thomas (Kim), and adored grandchildren Max (Sarah), Sam (Bailey), Gayle, Gretchen, and Hans. She is preceded in death by her husband Kermit and son Stephen.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 10-11 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Maumee (200 E. Broadway St.). A memorial service will follow immediately at 11 A.M. Donations in Nancy’s memory can be made to the church.
