From WOOD COUNTY ALCOHOL, DRUG ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
Stigma Busters, an original podcast created by the Wood County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services to address issues of stigma, added two podcasts to honor Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Stigma is problematic for individuals who struggle with mental illness and addiction, often causing those who need help to avoid care.
The first of the two episodes is “Staying Mentally Well on Campus,” which discusses initiatives at Bowling Green State University’s Wellness Connection that are designed to help prevent and assist with behavioral health challenges on college campuses. The second episode for May is “Parent and Caregiver Mental Wellness.” Host Courtney Rice talks with a Wood County parent with lived experiences as a parent of a child living with a mental health condition.
