The B.G. Transit Transportation Advisory Committee voted earlier this year for a recommendation to Mayor Richard Edwards to increase fare rates for system rides that originate and/or end outside Bowling Green’s corporation limits.
Following mayoral concurrence and, thereafter, the prescribed citizen participation process mandates, the Ohio Department of Transportation recently granted this fare increase, which will take place in 2019.
The last time a fare increase took place within the affected service area was 2014. The decision to change fare rates was based upon ever-increasing operational costs—coupled with state and federal funding cuts. The current fare rates for rides beginning and ending within Bowling Green’s city limits will remain intact.
As of Jan. 1, 2019, the new rates for rides originating and/or ending outside of Bowling Green’s corporation limits will be:
- General Fare: $4.50
- Elderly and Disabled Fare: $2.25 (Transit ID required) Applications for B.G. Transit ID cards are available at the Grants Administration Office, 304 N. Church St., Bowling Green
- Package Fare (When packages/bags take up seat space. Fare charged per seat.): $2.25
- Children under the age of 4, personal care attendants and language interpreters assisting persons with limited English proficiency ride free
