From TOLEDO ALLIANCE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
The Toledo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is seeking nominations for its 2021-2022 Outstanding Music Educator Award.
“One of the most important influences in my life as a young musician was my high school teacher,” says Alain Trudel, Toledo Symphony Music Director. It doesn’t matter if you become a professional musician or develop a love for the arts, the life lessons and impact music educators have on young students is one that cannot be put into words. It is an honor to recognize and celebrate the passionate teachers of our Toledo community.”
The recipient of the Outstanding Music Educator Award will be recognized by TSO Music Director Alain Trudel on Saturday, May 14, at the ProMedica Masterworks program, “Romantic Rhapsodies.” The recipient’s class will receive complimentary tickets to a Young People’s concert or Masterworks concert and a complimentary ensemble presentation for the classroom or an assembly for the entire school during the 2022-2023 academic year.
Current, full-time, K-12 music educators who teach music public and private schools in the Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan region are eligible for the award. Teachers in other educational settings, including before and after-school programs are private studios are not eligible. Teachers must plan on teaching at the same school (district) in the 2022-2023 academic year.
“Our organization and the music industry of today exists because of committed educators who introduce, develop, and foster the performers, arts-lovers, and arts educators of tomorrow,” says Rachel Schultz, Director of Education & Community Engagement for the Toledo Alliance for the Performing
Arts. “It is a privilege to honor deserving teachers and thank them for their commitment to the arts and leadership in our music community.”
