The Facility Governing Board of NorthWest Community Corrections Center (NWCCC) will hold a ceremony to commemorate the groundbreaking of a female wing addition on Monday, May 1, at 1 p.m.
The facility is located at the Wood County East Gypsy Lane Complex in Bowling Green.
NWCCC is a community-based correctional facility (CBCF) that serves the Common Pleas Courts of Wood, Williams, Fulton, Henry and Defiance counties. The expansion will allow NWCCC to provide programming and services to female offenders from the five-county area.
Programming and services provided by NWCCC include: substance abuse intervention, cognitive-behavioral therapy, anger management, medication assisted treatment (MAT), trauma, vocational programming, manufacturing certification, and a work for pay program, among others.
The $6.4 million in state capital funding for the design and construction of this project was allocated by the state legislature. The project was approved through a collaborative effort with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections and the Wood County Commissioners.
