Patricia M. Bankey, age 68, of Wayne, Ohio passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 11, 2024. She was born October 26, 1955, to Jim & Georgia (Neitz) Fulford at home in Wayne, Ohio. She likes to be called either Pat or Patty. Her siblings include 2 brothers Jim & Gene and 1 sister, Betty. Pat graduated from Elmwood High School in 1973. She really liked school and said, “I was in as many school activities as possible, member of the choir and the Elmwood Marching band.” In the band she played the cornet. She also participated in the local 4-H club. While in high school Pat also attended beauty school in Findlay. She worked for over 40 years as a beautician at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green. Pat met her future husband, Terry Bankey, at her brother Gene’s farm. She was helping bale hay, and Terry was also there helping with the baling. Thus, the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Pat & Terry were married on October 28, 1973, at her Mother’s home in front of the fireplace. They have 4 sons, Troy (Jennifer), Derek (Jennifer), Brett (Amber), Kalen (Alisha), 11 grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Trinity (Thomas) Bodnar, Hayley, Kylee, Landon, Nick, Dylan, Mara, Easten, and Kaden. Pat said, “I love them all so much”. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brothers and infant sister Betty.
Pat’s son Kalen was in a rock band, he would play at area bars and clubs. She and Terry would go listen every chance they could. Thus, Pat’s love of rock music including the music of Metallica and ACDC. She said her favorite though is Bon Jovi. She is also a fan of Elvis and Bob Segar. She had a love for doing many activities with all her boys including big foot conventions with Troy at Salt Fork, tractor pulling and fishing with Brett and Terry and cattle shows with Derek where Daisy Mae (a red/white registered Holstein) was her favorite. In her leisure time, Pat liked to keep busy and participated in whatever she could. She was a member of the Wood County Flower and Garden Club. She raised beautiful flowers, entered them into local fairs and won many ribbons. Pat was in a local group that helped needy families. Pat said, “I liked being a farmer’s wife, it was hard work, but I enjoyed it. I am so proud of my children, grandchildren, and of course my husband, Terry.”
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Monday September 16, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Graham Cemetery near Wayne, Ohio with Pastor Ron Merritt officiating. All arrangements have been entrusted to Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
