Pauline J. “Polly” Zanger, 57, died Monday, September 30, 2019. Born December 14, 1961, Polly was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Beverly (Kennedy) Zanger. Polly was preceded in death by her niece and nephew, Haley and Cameron Dewar. The welcome to heaven was surely a big one when Polly arrived and was greeted by other loved ones and pets who preceded her in death.
Polly graduated from Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green State University. While living in Bowling Green, she worked for Wood Lane – Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities. In 1996, Polly took her kind heart, midwestern values and authenticity to the Big Island of Hawaii where she thrived in Waikoloa. She assimilated with ease and became a “local.” She truly understood and loved the Hawaiian people and culture. As the Assistant Airport Superintendent at the Kona International Airport (KOA), she endeared herself to all with her leadership, loyalty, dependability, and laughter. She will be deeply missed.
A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff, especially the ICU staff and physicians, at Wood County Hospital that cared for her after a series of complications due to a sudden illness. Polly’s premature departure from earth leaves many friends, colleagues, and chosen family grieving the loss of a genuine, caring, and loving person. She was a blessing to all who knew her.
