Pemberville Municipal Electric was honored for its achievements throughout the past year during the 2025 American Municipal Power (AMP) Annual Conference, receiving a System Improvement Award.

The System Improvement Award was in recognition of the north substation replacement project. The project involved the upgrade of an aging substation, which may have been in use for as long as 70 years. The project faced numerous hurdles, including supplier backlogs, the need to construct a new blast wall, and coordination with Toledo Edison for the installation of supply feeds. Upon final completion of the project, the substation provided Pemberville residents with increased electric reliability, especially in emergency situations.

The AMP annual conference took place Sept. 22 – 24 in Columbus. The organization’s premier event featured presentations and panel discussions by industry experts and speakers from AMP partner organizations.
