Perrysburg Rotary Foundation contributes $5,000 to Perrysburg Musical Theatre

Perrysburg Musical Theatre’s first production in the new Perrysburg Arts Center this past summer was “Dare To Dream Jr., A Disney Musical Revue!”

From PERRYSBURG ROTARY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to Perrysburg Musical Theatre (PMT). The grant will help the local theater group purchase a state-of-the-art upright digital piano, an amplifier to enhance rehearsals and live performances, and a “cyc” for productions. The “cyc,” or cyclorama, is a large, curved, seamless cloth or wall at the back of the stage used as a backdrop. In addition, the grant also supports upgraded microphones and lighting at PMT’s new home – the Perrysburg Arts Center, located at 210 E. South Boundary St. in Perrysburg. The new Perrysburg Arts Center is home to PMT, Forte Music School who owns the building, and now the Perrysburg Symphony.

“This grant truly amplifies what we do,” said Julie Bermudez, artistic director of Perrysburg Musical Theatre. “These new tools will help our performers sound their best and create an even more immersive experience for our audiences. We’re so thankful to the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation for believing in the power of the arts.”

“The arts are a vital part of what makes Perrysburg such a great place in which to live,” said Jack Sculfort, executive director of the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation. “We’re proud to support organizations like Perrysburg Musical Theatre that bring creativity, connection, and joy to our community.”

Perrysburg Musical Theatre’s mission is to entertain, educate, and empower artists and audiences, enriching the cultural life of northwest Ohio. The organization provides children and adults alike with hands-on opportunities to explore every aspect of theater – from acting and design to production and management – all while delivering quality, family-friendly entertainment.

“We produce family friendly shows and classes, but we also provide more challenging/thought provoking shows for our adults and teens as well,” says Bermudez. “We definitely have a range of productions from junior shows to adult productions.”

PMT’s upcoming production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” will take the spotlight Nov. 6 – 9 at the Perrysburg Arts Center. To purchase tickets, visit perrysburgmusicaltheatre.org
