The Black Swamp Fine Arts School will present “Peter and the Wolf” Saturday, June 12, in the Bowling Green Performing Arts Center. The 40-minute ballet will be presented at 1, 2:30, 4, and 5:30. Students in the Early Childhood Program are also participating in their own portion inserted into the show.
“Peter and the Wolf” is an orchestral piece written by the composer Sergei Prokofiev. Musically, each character in the story, Peter, Bird, Duck, Cat, and Wolf is aurally represented by an instrument in the orchestra. When paired with dance, the association between the sound of the musical instrument and the character is strengthened. Adults and children alike will enjoy this family-friendly and endearing story.
