Phyllis “Jean” Flames, 92, formerly from Bowling Green and Portage Township, died Wednesday, March 30, in Anderson, Indiana. Jean was born October 10, 1923 in Liberty Township to William B. and Frankie Shinew. She married Marcel Flames and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her were daughter Marlene and infant son Andree, brother Russell Shinew, and sister Maxine Wagner. Surviving are daughter Teresa, son Paul (Lynda), brother Tom (Christina) and grandchildren Donna, Danita, Paula, Tom, Audra and Jason and seven great-grandchildren. Jean retired from Wood County Hospital in 1993. She enjoyed her work and had great kindness and compassion toward patients and their families. She enjoyed family gatherings and also loved to travel. Visitation will be held Friday April 1, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday April 2, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Dunn Funeral Home, located in the Historical District of Bowling Green at 408 West Wooster Street. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 10:30am in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Portage Cemetery.
