Poet Naykishia Darby to read & speak about her work at library

Local author Naykishia Darby ill be speaking on her book of selected poems, “Reflective Expressions”  Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. in the second Floor Programming Room at the Wood County District Public Library in Bowling Green. 

Darby is a poet, literary scholar and English professor. “Reflective Expressions” is a collection of personal poems that come from a place of hurt, healing and resilience. With the order of each piece, the reader see the healing process that evolves from the life-changing moments of one’s life. The poems focus on topics ranging from  friendship to motherhood to medical cannabis.

Darby is an advocate for diversity and equity and focuses her research interests on the LGBTQIA+ Student experience at the Historically Black College and/or University (HBCU), Black Women’s literature and gender identity and expression in Black Women performing artists. 

Additionally, she has served as panelist, presenter, and moderator at several academic and social conferences and published scholarly and creative works in journals and books.
