Portage will celebrate the Fourth of July and the village’s 199th birthday this year.
The Portage Lions Club organizes the annual July 4 parade each year in the community. This year the organization has teamed up with the Village of Portage events committee to also celebrate the town’s birthday.
The parade, which is always on the Fourth of July no matter what day of the week it falls on, will kick off at 11 a.m. from the north end of the village then proceed south down Ohio 25 to Enright Park.
Following the parade there are several activities scheduled, including a car show, games, hot dogs, and bake sale. This year there will also be craft vendors, live music and food trucks. And as always the fireworks show will be at dusk.
