Bowling Green State University is expected to welcome a record number of prospective students and their families to campus for its annual Presidents Day Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17.

Now in its 29th year, the annual visit day is one of the largest in Ohio, with thousands of prospective students and their families set to attend. The all-day experience is held when classes are in session, allowing future students to immerse themselves in active classrooms and research labs, individually meet with current students and faculty and experience the University’s state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant campus life in one of America’s safest college towns. BGSU first-year residence halls also will be open for self-guided tours.

Ranked by The Wall Street Journal as the No. 1 public university in Ohio for the student experience, BGSU is home to nearly 400 student organizations, some of which will be on full display during the open house, including Club Sports and the Falcon Marching Band, one of the nation’s largest college marching bands. During the event, prospective students and their families can also learn about the University’s comprehensive financial aid options, in addition to the Falcon Tuition Guarantee, which locks in a student’s tuition, fees and housing costs for four years.

“Highlighting the top-ranked BGSU student experience, our signature Presidents Day Open House provides prospective students and their families with a true sense of what everyday life entails at BGSU,” said Erin Heilmeier, assistant vice president and director of admissions at BGSU. “From insight on in-demand academic programs to connections with learning community members, our comprehensive Presidents Day Open House empowers future students to learn more about the BGSU experience and explore campus in a way that is meaningful to them. We are excited to welcome thousands of prospective students and their families to campus for this year’s event.”

Honored as the No. 1 public university in the Midwest students said they would choose again for the fifth consecutive year, BGSU continues to invest in high-demand academic programs that provide an education of value and drive workforce needs in Ohio and beyond, particularly in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and healthcare fields.

As part of its commitment, BGSU offers innovative bachelor degrees in robotics engineeringelectronic and computer engineering and mechanical and manufacturing engineering, building on its longstanding ABET-accredited programs in applied engineering. Addressing the ongoing nursing shortage, the BGSU bachelor’s in nursing program also has the largest enrollment in northwest Ohio.

For students undecided on a major, BGSU offers its one-of-a-kind Life Designprogram, which intentionally empowers undergraduates with the tools and connections to shape their college experience while also supporting their life and career goals through the Radbill Center for College and Life Design and the Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections.
