Public invited to celebrate BGHS theater teacher, Jo Beth Gonzalez, and her latest book

From WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

The public is invited to join the Wood County District Public Library to meet local author Jo Beth Gonzalez, Ph.D., on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m., in the first floor meeting room, at the Bowling Green library.

During this event, veteran Bowling Green High School theater teacher and director Gonzalez will describe what led her to the topic of her third book, “Temporary Stages III: How High School Theatre Fosters Spiritual Strength and Critical Consciousness.” After reading brief excerpts, she will introduce Kory Reinhart, theater teacher at Perrysburg High School, who represents one of several area and nationwide theater educators whose experiences the book highlights. Questions and discussion will follow.

Gonzalez teaches middle and high school theater and communications courses for Bowling Green City Schools, where she advises the drama club. A Thespian Troupe director, she leads her students in regional, state, and international thespian events. Since 2017, Gonzalez, dedicated to increasing students’ global competence, has been organizing trips abroad for teens to experience cultures different from their own. She was also inducted into the Educational Theatre Association’s Hall of Fame.

Coffee and snacks will be provided by Grounds For Thought. The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. For more information, call 419-352-5050 or email woodref@wcdpl.org.
