The City of Bowling Green and Bowling Green State University invite the community to a fun event for people of all ages to gather, explore Downtown BG, welcome the return of BGSU students, eat and be entertained.

The 5th Annual Rally BG on Main will take place on Saturday, Aug. 23, from 2 – 8 p.m. in historic Downtown Bowling Green.

Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the event, allowing for a day packed full of activities in the heart of Bowling Green. A variety of free activities and performances are being planned throughout the day. Music, shopping, restaurants, food trucks, and DORA drinks will be available for the duration of the event.

Thrill seekers will have an opportunity to zipline down Main, compete in the Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course, or try out the Super Slide, which is new this year. Families will have the chance to get up close to a fire truck and police car, play a round of mini golf, or have some fun with the Wood County District Public Library. Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet Freddie and Frieda Falcon, make a custom home sign, have their caricatures drawn, and support local shops and restaurants.

BG Mayor Mike Aspacher and BGSU President Rodney K. Rogers invite all to join in the Community Pep Rally, kicking off with the Bowling Green High School Band at 6 p.m. After a few remarks from both Aspacher and Rogers, the BGSU Band and Spirit Program will round out the event.

“Rally BG on Main has become a celebrated community event that highlights the strong connection between the City of Bowling Green and BGSU,” Aspacher said. “It’s a chance for residents, students, and visitors to come together in the heart of our downtown, celebrate the start of a new academic year, and enjoy all that makes our community vibrant and welcoming. I encourage everyone to come out and join in the fun—you won’t want to miss it.”

“We are so fortunate that Bowling Green State University is located in Bowling Green, consistently ranked among the best and safest college towns in the nation,” Rogers said. “Throughout the entire year, the City of Bowling Green welcomes and engages our entire learning community with events like Firefly Nights and the Black Swamp Arts Festival, and offers walkable parks, great local businesses and a friendly downtown. We look forward to again bringing together the city’s residents and our students with Rally BG on Main, as we celebrate the start of the academic year and our partnership with this great city.”

This event is being sponsored by the City and BGSU. Except for food and drink, this event is free of charge. A website has been created and will continue to be updated with the day’s activities as the event draws near.
