Thank you for communicating with your constituents via a one paragraph press release praising the recently passed ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’. Of course, it was hard to fully capture the almost thousand page Bill in the three sentences you found the time to submit to the BG Independent News.
As your constituent, I have contacted your office multiple times requesting a one on one meeting. I have also been involved with multiple efforts over the last decade to have a meaningful Town Hall with your Northern Ohio constituents. As neither of these events appear to be forthcoming, I will attempt to have you provide some answers via this Open Letter.
In your brief communication you stated some generalities that may be true. I would appreciate more information than provided to have you flesh out the favorable outcomes you anticipate. More importantly, I think your constituents need more information regarding what you did not mention. Specifically, I have heard varying numbers regarding the number of people in Ohio that will be removed from Medicaid to ensure that money was freed up to give Millionaires and Billionaires a permanent tax break. Please provide us with the number of Medicaid recipients that you believe will be removed as a result of this Bill. All these low income people will suffer, many will die prematurely.
Also I would appreciate figures on how many of your constituents will lose Food Stamp benefits.
In my opinion, the recently passed Bill will increase food insecurity and suffering. I am looking forward to your response to these questions.
