Rena M. Kersten, 91, of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Rena was born on September 9, 1927 to the late Louis and Maxine (Shinew) Wagner. She was married to James F. Kersten until his death in 1986.
Rena is survived by her daughters: Beverly (Chip) Frost of Fostoria, Ohio; Vicky (Joe) Konrad of Benson, Arizona; Cindy (Tony Jensen) Tyree, of Haskins, Ohio; Jane (Ken) Stearns of Bloomdale, Ohio; a son Larry (Rebecca) Kidd of Cygnet, Ohio; a brother John (Janet) Wagner; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; & 1 great-great-grandchild. Along with her parents and husband, Rena was preceded in death by a brother Joy Wagner.
Rena worked as a secretary for the Ohio Department of Health for over 25 years. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Rudolph Christian Church. Rena enjoyed playing golf and cards, holding babies, gardening, and going on vacation to any place warm. She was famous for her amazing peanut butter pie. She had a youthful spirit that was evident in her love for dogs and going to happy hour with friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, who will all miss her dearly.
Visitation for Rena will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory, 1460 W. Wooster Street. Bowling Green, Ohio 43402. The family will hold a private graveside service at Toledo Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions in Rena’s honor may be gifted to the Wood County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
