Richard “Dick” Gonyer, 78, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away October 3, 2024. He was born August 17, 1946, in Bowling Green to the late Elmer “Jack” and Helen (Heinze) Gonyer. He married Mary “Peggy” Connolly on May 22, 1970, and she survives.
Dick was a fireman and EMT for the Bowling Green Fire Department for over 25 years. When he wasn’t working, he was always busy tinkering with his many projects. He enjoyed traveling the country with his family in their RV, with Las Vegas, Graceland in Memphis, TN, and Yellowstone being some of his favorite destinations. He was a nearly lifelong Corvette and muscle car enthusiast, having attended countless car shows & swap meets over the decades. Elvis, oldies rock’n’roll, and singing karaoke were some of his other great passions. His greatest joy though was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his wife of 54 years, Peggy, Richard is survived by his sons Todd (Angela) Gonyer of Charlotte, North Carolina and Eric (Claire) Gonyer of Findlay, Ohio, mother-in-law Mary Connolly, sister Marcia (Steve) Seubert and grandchildren Ellie Gonyer, Elijah Gonyer, Emerson Gonyer and Kendra Gonyer.
A visitation will be held on Sunday October 13, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home located in the Historical District of Bowling Green, Ohio at 408 W. Wooster St. A Fireman’s Last Alarm service will be conducted by the Bowling Green Fire Department and will begin at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow and will be officiated by Father Tom McQuillen.
