On Sunday May 8th 2016, in Maumee Ohio, at the age of 62, Richard “Doug” Kampfer passed away unexpectedly but peacefully. He was surrounded by and is survived by his wife Judy (Boyle) and his children Dougie, Ashley and Sam (McGilvery). He is survived also by his grandchildren Ethan and Emily McGilvery, his parents Richard and Patricia (Batterson), his brother Ken (Janet) Kampfer, and so many family and friends who loved him as their own. Doug was a talented craftsman with wood who gave freely of his gift and whose work can be found in countless homes across the area. His labor of love was his home and yard which, with his wife, developed over the years into a personal sanctuary and serves as a love letter to those he left behind. He was a devoted husband and father, a playful and loving Papa, a giving soul, and all around good guy. Doug was loved and respected by all who met him and his death has left a hole that will not be filled. Visitation will be held Saturday May 14th from 1-4p.m. at the Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd., Waterville Ohio. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Doug’s life.
