Richard R. Teeple “Dick”, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on September 2, 2023. Born and raised in Bradner, Richard was a proud member of the community and served as mayor of Bradner.
He honorably serve our country in the US Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962. During his time in service, he was stationed on Paris Island, Okinawa and Philippines.
Richard graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1971 with a degree in education. He taught at Emerson Middle School, in Fostoria. Summers were spent as a white water raft guide for North American River Runners WV.
He paddled almost every white water river east of the Mississippi, and hiked to many peaks in the Rocky Mountains. His love of the outdoors was in close competition with talking to people in coffee shops around the country during his life adventures.
Richard is survived by his loving spouse, Cindy (Deerwester) Teeple and children: Angie Teeple, Skip (Kathy) Teeple, Katie (John) Smith, and Erin (Cody) Koziel; grandchildren: Andrew, Brian, Kyle, Nathan, Megan, Austin, Olivia, Kaileigh, and Brynli; brother Tom (Rosalie) Teeple; sister-in-law Cindy Teeple; brother-in-law Mike Keller and numerous great grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents; previous spouse Rose Hoffman a brother Harry Teeple a sister MaryEllen Keller and grandchild Emma Halsey.
Contributions in Richards honor may be gifted to the Wood County Park District Bradner Preserve or the Wood County Humane Society.
A memorial gathering for Richard will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at Bradner Preserve, 11491 N Fostoria Road with a military honors rendered at 3:30 pm.
