Robert R. Platz, 84, Bowling Green, passed away unexpectedly on March 17, 2016. Born in Sheboygan WI, Bob was the youngest child of Robert and Lilly Platz. He graduated from Howards Grove High School, served two years in the Army and then graduated from Lakeland College in 1957. In 1956 Bob married Alyce Kinzel and was looking forward to celebrating his 60th wedding anniversary in June. He is survived by Alyce and three daughters: Sarah Platz (Maumee), Susan Platz (Maumee), Lisa [Jeff] Hazelrigg (Connersville IN) and grandchildren Brian and Jordan Hazelrigg. Also surviving is his sister June Platz (Howards Grove, WI), and brothers-in-law, Wally Adler and Roy Schneider. He was predeceased by sisters Shirley Schneider and Betty Adler. Bob worked as Comptroller, at Modine Manufacturing Plants in Racine WI, McHenry IL, and LaPorte IN until settling in Bowling Green in 1978. He retired in 1994 and took up a new hobby of growing dahlias and was a member of the Toledo Dahlia Society. He enjoyed woodworking, assisting others on mission trips and Habitat builds, and delivering Meals on Wheels. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, March 22, from 9:00 to 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Church St. Bowling Green, followed by a memorial service at 11:30. There will be a luncheon served at the church immediately following the service. Dunn Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
