On Jan 1, 2025 Roberta “Bobbie” Ballard, RN went to sleep, then on Jan 3rd she moved from that deep sleep to be with her Lord. She was 88. Bobbie was a great homemaker raising a family of four with her husband of 67 years, but always a RN for her patients, family, friends and neighbors.
Most of Bobbie’s early years were in the Cleveland area, graduating from Chagrin Falls High
School and St. Lukes Hospital School of Nursing. Her first nursing job was as a District Nurse
for the inner-city of Toledo. Between raising four children she worked as a Med/Surgery RN
at Mercy and Toledo Hospitals. She retired about 16 years ago as office manager for a
surgeon at Toledo Clinic. For 43 years she has been an active member of the LDS church.
She liked to garden, especially flowers. She loved animals, particularly horses and cats. She
found a great deal of pleasure, when her family was young, working with the 4-H kids and
being with them at the county fair, being in the barns with them and their horses, watching
them show their horsemanship skills.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her father and step-mother James M & Joyce Turner, her mother
Golden L Diehl and her brother Tim Turner. She is survived by her husband Donald Ballard,
son David (Lena) Ballard, daughter Allison Zimmerman, son Glenn Ballard and daughter
Rachael (Francis) Karmol, and five grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Daryll(Carolyn)
Turner, and sisters Cheri Gleason and Michelle Lang.
The family will have private services and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green,
OH. They ask that flowers not be sent but a donation to the American Heart Association be
considered instead. Arrangements have been entrusted to Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home. Kind words and fond memories may be shared with Bobbie’s family at www.hannemanfuneralhomes.com.
