Rodger J. Herringshaw, 96, of Bowling Green, formerly of Waterville, passed away January 28, 2023. He was born June 5, 1926 in Bowling Green to the late Gale and Edna (Pike) Herringshaw. He married Carolyn Lehman on November 23, 1946 and she died in 2005.
Rodger was a 1944 graduate of Bowling Green High School. He went on to serve our country in the United States Navy. He worked as an insurance agent for Nationwide Insurance retiring in 1985. He was a member of Waterville Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Waterville American Legion Post 463 where he received his 60-year pin. Rodger served as the mayor of Waterville from 1976 to 1980 and served as council member for three terms. Rodger and Carolyn enjoyed many summers at their cottage on Round Lake in the Irish Hills.
He is survived by his nephews Joe Herringshaw, Steve Lehtomaa and Kirk Lehtomaa, nieces Nancy Kahlenburg and Sue Metcalf, and sister Beverly Lehtomaa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Victor Herringshaw and niece Carol Graves.
Rodger’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Waterville Presbyterian Church, 611 Farnsworth Rd. Waterville, Ohio 43566. Interment will follow at Wakeman Cemetery in Waterville. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
