Sandra Hayden, 83, of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019. She was born on June 23, 1936 to the late Harry and Elizabeth (Lewis) Haag in Columbus, Ohio. Sandra married Charles Hayden on June 15, 1958 and they were married for 56 years until he passed away on December 5, 2014.
Sandra is survived by her sons: Allen (Barb) Hayden of Bowling Green, Ohio; and Myron (Hyeseong) Hayden of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren: Stephen, Kelly, Gavin, and Hahna; sister-in-law Pat Haag; nieces and nephew: Michelle, Kristen & Michael. Sandra was preceded in death by her husband Charles Hayden; and brother Myron Haag.
Sandra was very proud to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from The Ohio State University in 1958. She went on to teach home economics at various schools in Central Ohio. After her children were born, they settled in Bowling Green and Sandra started involving herself in a number of organizations. She was the Den Mother for her sons Cub Scout pack, and volunteered at South Main Elementary. She was a member of the Black Swamp Spinners Guild. Sandra became a master gardener, gave much of her time and talent to the Wood County Parks, and was a founding member of the Wood County Herb Society. She volunteered at the Wood County Library and started the children’s garden that is still there today. Above all, she loved being around and spending as much time as she could with her family who will miss her dearly.
Memorial Contributions in Sandra’s honor may be gifted to the Wood County Library or Wood County Parks.
A Memorial Gathering for Sandra will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm in the Wintergarden Nature Center 615 S. Wintergarden Road, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
