Sara Pauline Meyer

Sara Pauline Meyer, 50, of Bowling Green, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday August 13, 2024 in Toledo. Sara was born on January 15, 1974, to Robert “Bob” and Gretchen (Helzer) Peets in Portland, Oregon. She married “her person”, Dan Meyer, on July 12, 2003, and he survives her in Bowling Green with their sons, Evan (17) and Alex (12).

Sara was an outstanding student-athlete in high school and went on to play collegiate softball at Portland State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in math and her master’s degree in teaching. Sara was a classroom and online teacher for many years as Dan’s career in college athletics took them from Portland to Pullman, Washington and finally to Bowling Green in the summer of 2014. As members of the Bowling Green community for 10 years, Sara was an active member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and volunteered regularly with her sons’ many activities in the Bowling Green School District, from the Library at Conneaut Elementary to serving pregame meals to the varsity football team and many, many more contributions in between. Her boys were the very center of her life, and even through the ups and downs of her own 10-year battle with breast cancer, spending time in support of Evan & Alex’s academic and athletic pursuits was the joy of her life.

Along with her loving husband Dan, and sons Evan & Alex, Sara is survived by her parents, Bob and Gretchen, of Portland, Oregon, and sister, Anna (Adam Baker) Snow, of Tigard, Oregon. Anna’s daughters, Abigail and Natalie, adored their auntie, who was a major influence in their lives since day one. The “Meyer 16”, led by her in-laws, Frank & Patricia Meyer of Las Vegas, always considered Sara every bit their beloved daughter, sister and auntie.

A visitation for Sara will be held on Sunday August 18, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church located at 150 S. Enterprise St. Bowling Green, Ohio. Father Mark Davis will have a short prayer service Sunday at 3:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday August 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Father Tom McQuillen will officiate. A luncheon for the Meyer family will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Stroh Center located at 1535 E. Wooster St. Bowling Green, Ohio.
