Sherry resigns from BG Council First Ward seat to take position with Wood County Board of Elections

First Ward Council member Damon Sherry at Monday's City Council meeting

Dear residents of Bowling Green,

It is with a mix of emotions that I announce my resignation from the Bowling Green City Council, effective 09-06-2024. Representing the First Ward on the council has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am profoundly grateful for the trust and support you have shown me during my time on council.

This comes after I have accepted a position with the Wood County Board of Elections as an Elections Administrator, and I am eager to contribute to ensuring the integrity of our electoral process.

Bowling Green is more than just a place where I live – it is truly my home. Here, I have found friends, a chosen family, and a community that has welcomed me with open arms. Serving you and working alongside my fellow council members to advance our city’s interests has been a privilege, and I am proud of what we have achieved together.

While I have made the difficult decision to step down from my official role on the council, my commitment to Bowling Green remains as strong as ever. I plan to continue attending council meetings and participating in community discussions as much as possible. I am eager to find new ways to contribute to our city’s progress and to advocate for the issues that matter most to all of us.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the residents of the First Ward, to all of Bowling Green, and to those who have supported me along this journey. Your encouragement, guidance, and collaboration have been invaluable, and I am confident that our city is in good hands. I wish the council continued success as they lead Bowling Green toward a bright future.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. I look forward to continuing our work together to make Bowling Green an even better place to call home.
