Shirley J. Schooner, 87, of Rudolph, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023. She was born on July 21, 1936, in Athens, Ohio to the late Roy and Doris (Graham) Rife. She married John Schooner on June 4, 1978 and they were together until he passed away.
Shirley was a talented guitar and keyboard player, sharing her love for music with all who had the pleasure of hearing her play. Her faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life
Shirley’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving sons: Craig Peterson, Dennis Peterson, and Mark Peterson, as well as her siblings: Roy Rife, Virgil Rife, Mary Devel, and Ruth Hosler. She was also a cherished grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and had the incredible privilege of knowing her 2 great-great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Doris; husband John; sons Howard and Rick, and siblings: George, Ronald, and Anna.
Contributions in Shirley’s honor may be gifted to the family.
A public viewing will take place at Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home & Crematory Monday, December 18, 2023 from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 pm. A committal service will immediately follow at Rudolph Cemetery.
