This past Saturday, volunteers from the congregations of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and Dayspring Church combined for a local mission project entitled “The Brim Road Project”. The parishioners traveled to Maurer Mobile Home Court to do some construction work as well as put together a fair for the residents. More than 50 volunteers donated their time to make this event a success.

The St. Mark’s volunteers provided the construction and demolition work. Volunteers tore down sheds, as well as replaced and built stairs, railings, and decks for residents that are unable to do so. In addition to this, volunteers helped revive the community garden by weeding, landscaping, planting, and painting. The Dayspring volunteers were responsible for putting together a fair for the residents. Residents were able to enjoy food, live music, and activities for children.

These congregations were able to pull together to improve the lives of community members who are unable to do the tasks required.

“God calls us to help those who are in need,” organizers stated. “On Saturday, God was certainly present through the spirits and generosity of the combined congregations.”
