State Patrol investigating hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles on I-75 north of BG

The Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash that occurred north of Bowling Green, on Interstate 75, Sunday around 3:12 p.m.

The preliminary investigation showed that a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on I-75 in the right lane behind a 2003 Toyota Matrix. The Tahoe struck the Matrix, causing it to strike a 2025 Ford Expedition that had been traveling in the center lane. The Matrix ran off the right side of the roadway, where it struck a ditch and a fence before coming to rest near a pond. 

The driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe fled the scene after the collision had occurred.

The Matrix was operated by Henry Taylor, 20, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Taylor sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.

The Expedition was operated by Marvin Johnson, 62, of Redford, Michigan. The passengers in the Expedition were Robin Johnson, 56, of Redford, Edward Goggans, 60, of Southfield, Michigan, and Rhonda Jones, 63, of Southfield. All four occupants in the Ford Expedition were transported by EMS to Perrysburg Mercy for treatment of minor injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Middleton Township Fire & EMS, Or’s Towing and Tommy Boy Towing.

This crash remains under investigation.
