The screenings are part of a 20-month roadshow ahead of the film’s planned Fall 2026 broadcast on PBS stations. Filmmaker David Garrigus will travel with the film to foster dialogue and public understanding of the nation’s founding charter. He will host a Q&A with audiences following each screening.
Guided by insights from leading scholars, “The American Constitution” tells the origin story of the American government. The film’s script is drawn entirely from the historical record, using only the Founders’ own words. This commitment to authenticity is brought to life by a cast portraying framers like George Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and Benjamin Franklin.
The project is backed by some of the nation’s top legal and historical experts, including Dr. Michael Klarman of Harvard Law School and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Dr. Gordon Wood. The filmmaker’s mission is grounded in a principle from James Madison: “A people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives.”
These screenings are supported by the Ohio 250 Commission, also known as America250 – Ohio, an initiative to help Ohioans commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
