From TOLEDO MUSEUM OF ART
On Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) and its Women & Allies Employee Resource Group will mark International Women’s Day with a day of engaging programs to honor the voices, stories, and achievements of women across cultures, highlighting their diverse experiences in the arts and beyond.
The event includes screenings of of films from women filmmakers, the 2023 documentary about four generations of Palestinian women “Bye, Bye Tiberias” by directed Lina Soualem and 2023’s highest grossing film “Barbie” directed by Greta Gerwig. Both films will be shown in the Little Theater. “Bye Bye Tiberias” will be screened at noon and 4 p.m. and “Barbie” will be screened at 2 and 6 p.m.,
Also, on the schedule are:
- Aligning Body & Film: Yoga Experience with Holly Strawbridge from 11 a.m. to 12:30p.m. in GlasSalon includes a showing of the video “Three Overlooked Women Filmmakers, #2” by Sabrina Gschwandtner. The event is free but registration is required. Click to register.
- Women of TMA – Museum Professionals Panel. 3-4 p.m. in the GlasSalon. A diverse group of museum professionals, will offer insights into the different roles within a museum and the journey it takes to become a museum professional. Topics will include navigating the unique challenges and triumphs of being a woman in the workplace, how gender norms shape professional paths, balancing work and motherhood, and the vital contributions women make in the arts. Followed by a networking reception.
