Tracy Hovest has filed petitions with the Wood County Board of Elections to run as an incumbent to retain her seat on the Board of Education for Bowling Green City Schools in the November election.
After four years on the Bowling Green City Schools Board of Education, Hovest wants to continue to help improve Bowling Green City Schools and continue representing BGCS students and constituents with a voice at the table.
Hovest currently resides in Bowling Green with her husband, Brian, and daughter, Grace. As an educator going into her 24th year of teaching at Washington Local Schools in Toledo, and as a parent of a Bowling Green student, Hovest offers a unique perspective to the board as an educator, a parent, and a community member.
Hovest’s top priorities will be long term planning for facilities to improve the learning and teaching environments for students and staff, advocating for students, attending numerous district events and activities that are important to students, staff and families, building working relationships with the community, working collaboratively with the new superintendent Dr. Ted Haselman and treasurer Cathy Schuller to move the district forward, and making decisions that are fiscally responsible to the taxpayers while meeting the needs of the district.
As a member of the board and current vice president, Hovest prides herself in listening to and understanding different perspectives from constituents, asking tough questions and making tough decisions/votes, and making changes that will help the district move forward in the best interest of the students, staff, and community.
