Two men charged in two separate altercations in downtown BG this past weekend

Bowling Green Police charged two men after two altercations in the downtown area this past weekend.

On Saturday (May 10) around 2 a.m., an officer was flagged down in the 100 block of North Main Street. A man who was picking up an order for Door Dash from the back of the bar, told police an unknown male had threatened to shoot him. Police found Zion Riley, 25, of Toledo, who allegedly made the threat. He was charged with menacing and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and was taken to Wood County Jail.

On Sunday (May 11) around 1:40 a.m., police were waved down in the 100 block of North Main Street. The officer was told that an unknown male kicked the door of a parked pickup, then punched three men in their heads. Video coverage of the parking lot reportedly showed the men telling the suspect, Drake Ludwig, 22, of Grand Rapids, to just walk away.

The kick to the pickup door reportedly nearly ripped off the door handle and dented the door.

Video cameras downtown reportedly showed Ludwig getting into a vehicle which was registered to him.

BG Police sought a warrant for Ludwig’s arrest for three counts of assault and one count of criminal damaging.
